Great UPDATE
The terminator series makes a great blu-ray dvd. Sounds and picture are an obvious improvement.
No fate
Like most people, I originally saw T2 before T1. Either way, these two movies link well enough to buck chronology. T2 is essentially the same story with flashier effects and, importantly, a lot of humanistic additions. Some reviewers see that as a flaw, which is a valid criticism, but, let's face it, the chronology of Schwarzenegger's career and ideology points to the change. The same applies to Cameron, of course, so it makes sense they would team up for such a hybrid film. (Next stop, True Lies.) The addition of Furlong is a key addition, demonstrating from the previous Kindergarten Cop that Schwarzenegger, for whatever ineffable reason, exudes great chemistry with children (even teenage delinquents). Hamilton again gives the movie its narrative grounding. There's no fate but what we make for ourselves. And, of course, the effects are wild. Cameron really has a gift with smashing car (and helicopter) chases. Beautiful stunts (coordinated as always by Joel Kramer) and breathtaking CGI. And, standing tall at the middle of all this enchanting chaos, the imperturbable charm of Schwarzenegger. He'll be back, you know.
Better than ever!
T2 Skynet Edition truly completes the movie experience of this classic film. This extended version pieces the movie together SO well, I am sorry I ever saw the original version. T2 has always been my favorite movie, but this Skynet version has taken it to a whole new level! I would recommend this to everyone!!
this is a region-limited dvd, buyers beware!
I just bought this and discovered that, unlike most (i.e. approx. 90%) other blu-ray dvds, this is region limited. That means it will not play on my dvd player and so is useless. Why do corporations make restrictions like this, except merely to make more money by milking consumers? Total waste of money. Outrageous that this is not made clear.
Awesome !
I just got the T2 Endoskull set and, let me tell you, it's amazing. It looks exactly like you'd expect a Terminator to look. When you press the button on the side, after flicking the on switch on the bottom, the eyes light up red and it plays certain sound clips from the movie. I read some reviews that said the skull was flimsy. I don't know about that. Sure, it's not as sturdy as it would be if it were made from metal, but it's not paper-level flimsy. I wouldn't play with it or anything, but it will certainly hold up to simple holding and looking at. The only bad thing about the set is the incredibly dumb move of having all 6 discs stacked on top of each other. Doesn't everyone know that dvds can get scratched up pretty good. The set does come with a regular dvd case that you can put the discs in, but that too is a stack case. I'd suggest tracking down a 6 disc regular case, sort of like the case of the Real Ghostbusters complete set or the A-Team set and using that instead.
